ABOUT ANGELSUN
My
first purebred dog was a German Shepherd Dog back in 1980. She was a couch
potato, doorbell and a great family dog as she watched over my two young
sons. Like so many in her breed, it was
her hips that let her down and she left us at just 8 years of age.
I got involved with
Manchester Terriers for both breeding and showing as well as competitive
obedience and agility. My Standard
Manchesters were bred under the “DemonMoon” prefix and produced quality dogs in
three countries which included many conformation champions and performance
titles. The ‘DemonMoon’ line is still
alive and doing well with those that saw the quality of the dogs I had worked
with. Best in Show, Best in Specialty
show, High in Class winners were just some of the dogs that made up my breeding
program. Special thanks to those
wonderful people that owned and still own the dogs out of my breeding program
and have taken them to many successes of their own and used them for their
foundation dogs. I still remain in close
contact with many of the Manchester owners and am always thrilled to hear about
their achievements.
The last Manchester
litter was whelped here in the spring of 2003.
In
the mid 1990’s I began a search for another breed to compliment my
Manchesters. Something I could have some
fun with, show and enjoy that was similar to what I knew. I found the German Pinscher, but
unfortunately there wasn’t many kennels I wanted to purchase a dog from as
temperaments were not their priority. I needed a dog I could live with and that
could live with the terriers!
I
was fortunate to find a Canadian breeder that put temperament above show
rosettes and with the purchase of this dog, began a new exciting aspect to my
life in breeding and showing.

“Reise” proved to be a milestone for myself and the breed in
North America and beyond, but at the time, he was just a fun and comical dog to
own and show. Little did we realize that
our weekends of fun would turn into record making and breaking rewards! Upon recognition in January 2000, the German
Pinschers entered the official Canadian Kennel Club conformation rings. Reise quickly made his mark being the first
GP to win a “puppy in group” and held the record for the most Puppy wins until
his daughter shattered that record three years later! Reise went on to be the first GP to win the
group in July 2002. By June 2003 he also
won the coveted Best in Show ribbon (all breed) to which no other GP can lay
claim to owning. Reise retired from the
show rings in 2004 once he acquired his American Championship title. AKC recognized the breed for regular
competition in January 2003. Reise was
never kennel packed to any of his wins both in Canada or the USA. His title, like all of my dog’s titles, was
earned honestly with outside competition and in different areas
nationwide. It was Reise that made me
see that my true calling in dogs was the German Pinscher and so began the
transformation from terriers to pinschers, and as such, Angelsun was born.
Over the past
number of years, ANGELSUN has produced dogs that have been lovingly cared for
and considered foundations for many other kennels both in North America and
Europe as well as genetic contributions by way of frozen semen to Australia
which have also produced amazing results!
Selective breeding
and keeping only the best has ensured the quality of an ANGELSUN GP. Temperament is our top priority as we know
that people must be able to LIVE with their dog day to day. I am proud that many of the dogs involved in
my pedigrees are not only multiple conformation champions, but are therapy dogs
and are involved in many social activities showing their true happy nature to
which the breed standard calls for. They
have not lost their drive to watch and hunt, but they also are great companions
in the home, with families and other animals.
ANGELSUN dogs live with toddlers, cats, small dogs and assorted other
critters in harmony. Like ANY dog of any
breed, they must be taught to be respectful of all of these and with a sound
genetic base to build on, the ANGELSUN team proves that these dogs can be happy
and content members of today’s society.
Breeding at
ANGELSUN is done carefully and infrequently to ensure only the best match ups
are made. My boys are not available at
public stud and only by private treaty.
If you have a bitch that you think may benefit from one of the ANGELSUN
boys, I look forward to hearing from you but don’t be offended if you are
turned down. I do not own boys to cash
in on stud fees. They are here to improve the breed first and foremost, and if
they can’t with a bitch, I will not agree to a breeding. It really doesn’t matter to me if my boys are
ever used outside the ANGELSUN boundaries.
Many people want to see the parents of the litters or the pups
themselves and do not want to fly their puppy. We welcome anyone to visit our
home and view the litters or the parents.
Please call for a time that is appropriate as I do have a life outside
my dogs and sometimes that means I’ve not caught up with the dishes or the
vacuum! My dogs live in my home and not
in a kennel so be prepared to see a few bits of dog hair and some paw prints on
the floor in some areas. Although my
dogs have crates in my loungeroom, they spend much of their day with each other
in the house or playing in the fully fenced yard. I do not keep many dogs in my home as I
strongly believe that they do not get the care and attention that this breed
deserves. You will never find more than
5 mature dogs in my home living at any point in time. I segregate dogs only when the girls are in
season to prevent any accidental matings.
Puppies are born under foot and are raised with sights and
sounds that they will know to accept as everyday life. They remain here until at LEAST 8 weeks and
are micro chipped with international standard chips for their safety prior to
leaving. They are registered with the
VCA (Victorian Canine Association) and each have purchase contracts designed to
the specific requirements of the purchaser.
They are up to date on worming and vaccinations for their age prior to
leaving.
I have flown dogs to Mexico, Spain, Europe and all parts of
Canada and the USA without any issues in the past and as such can arrange
transport interstate or internationally outside of Australia. I arrange all the flights to ensure the best
flights and times are available. Flying
dogs is NOT traumatic and I use only climate controlled aircraft and abide by
their rules for safe transport which include not flying live cargo during
excessive heat or cold periods in the year. As well, holiday’s usually mean
live cargo embargo’s so no puppies or dogs leave here over the holiday
season. Depending on your location, I
may be able to arrange ground transport, and of course you are always welcome
to come here to pick up your new addition.
Prices of the puppies or dogs, include any veterinarian check ups or
needles needed for their needs, and any transfers of registration needed. Transportation costs can vary depending on
method, time of year, location and size of dogs being sent. Please feel free to
ask for a quote on these costs.
Living now in the
beautiful state of Victoria Australia, Angelsun German Pinschers continues to
work towards the improvement of this breed.
Our future plans include the importation of frozen semen of the dogs we
have bred that have proven themselves to be a large asset to this breed. We will continue to provide top quality
German Pinschers that are suitable for showing,
for trials or just for loving pets.
We stand by our history in this breed and the reputation that we have
for producing some of the best GP’s in the world. We are also fortunate to be in partnership
with a number of people in North America that wish to continue to breed using
the Angelsun Prefix and ALL litters that contain that prefix are approved by
myself. I do not permit the use of my
prefix by ANYONE other than those that abide by my breeding ethics and
practices.

References from previous ANGELSUN buyers are always
available. You have as much right to
check up on me as a breeder as I have to check up on you as a buyer. If you don’t like what you see, walk away and
I will do the same!
Remember, these are MY puppies and I don’t have to
sell one to anyone I don’t think has the puppy’s best interest at heart. As well, I don’t sugar coat anything about my
dogs, or my ethics. Again, if you can’t
handle an honest and ‘straight from the shoulder’ approach, you probably might
want to find someone else to buy a dog from.
I make no apologies for my strong beliefs in both my dogs and my methods
which have been shown to produce good relationships with new owners for many
many years.
As founding member and past President of the German
Pinscher Club of Canada as well as a current member of the Victoria Canine
Association, ANGELSUN is bound not only by the CKC code of ethics and bylaws
but the GPCC/VCA rules and as such, we do not breed dilutes nor attempt to
obtain dilutes through a breeding as they are contrary to the CKC standard for
our breed which calls for ONLY black/tan or solid reds as acceptable.
We refer to other GPCC breeders or breeders that
hold similar ethics to breeding. If you
are looking to find ‘dirt’ on another breeder, don’t waste your time or
mine.
OUR RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF...BREEDING DOGS IS OUR HOBBY,
NOT OUR BUSINESS....WE BREED TO IMPROVE NOT TO PROFIT!!!
